Saskatchewan Holds biggest Entrepreneur Program Draw Ever!!!
Two records were set during the latest nomination draw in Saskatchewan last Wednesday. On May 24, 2017, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) held the biggest draw ever for the Entrepreneur Program (SINP EP). A total of 142 individuals were invited to apply for the program, up 32 percent from the previous draw in which only 107 invitations were issued. This was also the first time in the SINP EP draw that the minimum points required has dipped to 80 points. In March, the scored plunged to below-100 points level—95 points—for the first time since October 2015.

The SINP EP allows a foreign citizen to immigrate to the province of Saskatchewan by putting up his/her own business or partner with a local business owner. Applicants are first required to secure a business permit and fulfil the terms of a Business Performance Agreement to become eligible to apply for permanent residency.

Applicants are also required to have a minimum net worth requirement of C$500,000 and an equity investment requirement of C$200,000, and C$300,000 if the investment is made in Saskatoon or Regina City. The SINP has already announced the next draws for the SINP EP. According to its website, the next draws will be on:
  • July 19, 2017
  • October 18, 2017
  • January 17, 2018
This is also a first in Canadian immigration history that a provincial immigration program has provided an advance notice of future draws. Most provinces depend on the number of applicants per intake season to design and determine the next date of the subsequent draw for a specific category. Saskatchewan, in this respect, showed that it has a better immigration system. It has already projected the number of immigrants it needs for this year, including the specific programs and routes the applicants would utilise to obtain permanent residency from the SINP.
